Mubende, UGANDA--- After trying out a few measures to engage learners during this on-going pandemic, Fr. Alex You Memorial School (AYM) has updated their approach to keeping their learners engaged through learning materials and more interaction with their teachers. AYM has recalled more teachers and improved learner-teacher interaction by taking learning materials closer to them. Learning materials are now accessible in 9 catchment centers in the villages where a learner picks class work, does it and returns it for assessment to the picking point. When the learners return the work for assessment, they find more learning materials waiting for them. Aware of struggling students that need face to face interaction, AYM has instructed its teachers to identify learners that need extra assistance and follow up with them so that they are not left behind or discouraged in the process.
